Andy Cameron is one of Scotland's most successful and popular comedy stars. He has presented a number of shows on TV and radio and starred in one of Scotland's longest running TV soaps, 'Take the High Road'. Andy has also been voted 'Scottish Television Personality of the Year'. He is now regarded as one of Scotland's funniest after dinner speakers and appears regularly at corporate dinners, sales conferences and prestigious awards ceremonies, in theatres and hotels throughout the country. He also has released a successful video 'Andy Cameron- a bit south of the border'.
Andy first entered show business at the ripe age of 32 when he started working in clubs. He soon became a top club comedian. Andy's first breakthrough on television was in 1975 when he appeared on New Faces and made several appearances on top variety shows, such as 'Live at Her Majesty's' with Jimmy Tarbuck and 'Tarby and Friends' for ITV. In 1978, he got a huge break when he wrote the football anthem 'Ally's Tartan Army' for the Scotland International football team. This went to No.6 in the national charts and was responsible for 2 appearances on Top of the Pops. Many years later, it even led to an appearance on 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks'.
Throughout Andy's career he has developed as an excellent after dinner speaker, host and auctioneer. He is also respected as one of Scotland's best Burns exponents. His ability to appeal to all types of audiences, has resulted in Andy being booked for events all over the world -Canada, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, Dubai, even England! He has also been invited to speak in debates at both Cambridge and Oxford Universities.
Andy is never happier than when helping to raise money for children's charities and three close to his heart are Yorkhill Children's Hospital, St Vincent's School and the Variety Club of Great Britain. The Variety Club have honoured him with a tribute dinner in recognition of his work for the charities.
A keen golfer, Andy has set up his own annual pro-am charity that has raised thousands for the children's charities via 'Variety Club.
