Halla Mohiedden started out her broadcast career in China at Beijing's largest English-language Lifestyle and Entertainment magazine, editing two of the magazine's largest sections. She was also a regular contributor to the magazine's blog and during this time, she freelanced as a fashion writer.

For over five years Halla then became the main weather presenter on CCTV News, China's leading English-language news channel, broadcasting to over 85 million viewers worldwide. During this time, she represented the China Meteorological Administration at the Shanghai Expo, had her face printed on a stamp, and compared at a colleague's traditional Chinese wedding in a Peking Opera costume.

She also worked as a producer, presenter and journalist at fledgling TV channel Blue Ocean Network (BON). This privately-owned network broadcast programming about China to the US and Canada.
