Halla Mohieddeen currently spends her time between Doha in The Middle Eastern State of Qatar and Glasgow in Scotland when in 2019 she took up the position of Principal Presenter at the Al Jazeera Media Network.
Born in Scotland, Halla is an award nominated, media and communications professional, with over seven years experience in China, Asia and France. She speaks French, German and Mandarin Chinese and she has specialist knowledge of International affairs, Scottish and British politics, marine and environmental conservation, and Chinese politics and society.
She returned to Scotland in 2016 after working in Paris with 24-hour international news channel, France 24, Halla anchored the channel's live news bulletins, covering breaking news, and producing content for broadcast. In Scotland she took over as the main News Presenter on STV where she received as RTS Scotland nomination. In 2019 she then moved to Al Jazeera as their main presenter.
Halla is also a PADI Divemaster, and she once modelled hats.
Halla Mohiedden started out her broadcast career in China at Beijing's largest English-language Lifestyle and Entertainment magazine, editing two of the magazine's largest sections. She was also a regular contributor to the magazine's blog and during this time, she freelanced as a fashion writer.
For over five years Halla then became the main weather presenter on CCTV News, China's leading English-language news channel, broadcasting to over 85 million viewers worldwide. She was at that time, one of the best known presenters in the world but almost totally unheard of, outside of the Chinese community. During this time, she represented the China Meteorological Administration at the Shanghai Expo, had her face printed on a stamp, and compared at a colleague's traditional Chinese wedding in a Peking Opera costume.
She also worked as a producer, presenter and journalist at fledgling TV channel Blue Ocean Network (BON). This privately-owned network broadcast programming about China to the US and Canada.
